Module 3. Support for families in the first phase of disappearance

Introduction

The disappearance of a loved one is an unexpected and unanticipated situation where no one is prepared, much less prepared to face the situation. Therefore, it is natural that the feeling of security that until now you had as a family may be lost.

The problem of missing persons worldwide encompasses an important cause of emotional and health stress for millions of people who suffer the terrible uncertainty of not knowing the whereabouts of their missing loved one.

In this module 2.3 we will learn to give and understand the first and good practices in relation to the security forces and the unit that carries out the investigation.

It is also important to know and inform families how they have to carry out the investigation of the missing person’s assets and how and where to collect this data.

It is extremely important to know the professionals involved in a disappearance and their mission in these emergencies , knowing their work and how they can help.

Learning Outcomes

In this module we will be able to:

  • Provide assistance to the family after the complaint.
  • Establish the relationship with the security forces and know good practices.
  • Manages of the procedures related to the relationship with institutions and police forces
  • Know the role of the courts in the face of disappearance.
  • Have knowledge and how to advise families in the processes of collecting assets
  • Know and know how to identify the involvement of different professionals, as well as their mission in the search for a missing person.

Duration

The duration of this first module is two hours and 50 minutes.

Requirements

For this module, prior knowledge of legislation regarding missing persons is required, as well as social and psychological knowledge regarding a disappearance.

Knowledge of search protocols for missing persons is recommended.

Module recommended for members of the security forces, private investigators, as well as members of the emergency and civil protection services, associations that work in the search for missing people in all operational areas.
