Module 1. The communication with the family of the missing person during investigation and its ending phase

Module 1 is aimed at analysing the assistance needed by families and at the same time at providing learner with the knowledge about the strategy of the Absence to interpretate the missing case to understand the motivation. In many cases motivation is connected with family issues. The information phase is strongly connected with the family and the social context where the missing person was used to live. This information phase is strategic for the finalization of investigation as it is able to reduce costs and manage resources while avoiding palliative research.

The relationships with the family and the methods of approach used are fundamental and functional to the methodology of collecting information and to the standardization of the criteria for collecting, verifying, classifying and analyzing information in order to determine the reasons underlying the phenomenon of disappearance. Communication is a key element to manage properly with empathy the families and to catch and collect the information in the investigation phase from the member of the family and the social context where the missing person has lived.
