Module 3. Stakeholder communication and media relations
The module is designed to address the key issue related to institutional communication techniques and the management of relations with the media and the families involved.
The disappearance of a person is an event that requires collective responsibility, the concrete action of figures with diversified skills and an effective dialogue between social systems. Although in its early stages, the synergistic work of the institutions and the forces of the third sector, in the study and intervention activities coordinated by the figure of the Government’s Extraordinary Commissioner for Missing Persons, is our country’s response to the problems of missing persons and their families. The module outlines its relationships and functions.
Particular attention is also given to the role of the press in managing the disappearance since initiating and maintaining an effective relationship with the press is essential for families who have a loved one who has passed away. In addition, media communication can help raise public awareness, spread the call for research, and gather crucial information.
